Crystals, Mindfulness, and Reflections on Vegas

Crystals, Mindfulness, and Reflections on Vegas

Hi Yall,

I’m posting a picture of a beautiful crystal because I believe crystals have great grounding and healing properties. Crystals are the earth’s DNA, made from two of the most common elements in the Earth, silicon and oxygen. There are two things I do when I need to feel grounded; I first say a prayer asking God to center me, and while speaking this prayer I hold a crystal in my hand and imagine being part of the earth. This ritual works for me because I have FAITH in prayer, FAITH in God, and FAITH in Crystals. Why am I saying this today? Because I feel a lot of grief this week, and I need the tools God has given me to feel grounded. I’ve read a lot of posts this morning about the tragedy of Vegas. They go from grief, to love, to holding their loved ones tight, to anger, to protest, to remembrance. I’m not sure what I feel, as my emotions continue to move through all this… I don’t want Vegas to be forgotten; I want the families shattered to know we are praying for them, I don’t want to become numb, I don’t want us to lose FAITH, I want the government to do more, I hate guns, I’m mad that we live in a country with so much wealth but are too greedy to cover mental illness 100%, I’m angry that we cover the cost of drugs but not therapy, I’m sad, I’m grieving, I’m angry, I’m scared for Lilah to grow up in this world… So with all these emotions, I’m focusing on what I do know. I Know God is a loving God and when you Love God you Love others. I know what we need now is a belief in something bigger than ourselves and our egos. I believe mindfulness and meditation are essential for us right now; I’m thankful for all of you who have joined me in the mindfulness challenge. Meditation is a practice, start today with 5 minutes. There are so many great tools available to us to get started. There are many youtube videos, CD’s, apps like Calm and Headspace, or you can just listen to music and close your eyes for 5 minutes. Just start. Love you all, Virginia
